Watson, Bartlome and Adkins among Many Winners during Friday Night Kart Races at Sandusky

The stars and cars of the infield clay oval at the Sandusky Speedway descended down upon the speedway to check off yet another date on their aggressive 2015 schedule.  When the dust settled, Kyle Watson (360) and Keric Bartlome (305) took Clone victories while Spencer Adkins ended the 2015 dominance of JJ Henes and Tristan Magel by stealing his second career victory in the Quarter Midget 160 class.  JJ Henes (QM 120), Hailey Engle (Rookie Girls), Jimmy Blagg (Rookie QM Blue Plate), Memphis McKenzie (Kid), Kaitlyn Woods (Purple) and Keegan Weese (Rookie QM Red Plate).

In the Rookie Girls twelve lap feature, the #28 of Tiffany Bartlome and the #83 of Hailey Engle started on the front row with Engle taking the early advantage on lap one.  Bartlome’s troubles would only deepen as she spun in turn four on lap three, putting three karts between herself and Engle as Engle led Breana Axford, Nevaeh Russika, Aleese Angelo and Bartlome back to the green flag.

Bartlome would pass both Angelo and Russika on the start to go to the third position.  However, Nevaeh Russika would stop on the back straightaway on lap five to bring out the second caution of the event with Engle leading Axford, Bartlome, Angelo and Russika.  The restart would come and go with little action until Breana Axford spun in turn two on lap ten, hitting the outside tire wall.

This caution would put Hailey Engle on the defense of her race-long lead as Tiffany Bartlome, Aleese Angelo, Nevaeh Russika and Breana Axford followed in close pursuit.  Engle would go on to win over Bartlome, Russika, Angelo and Axford.

The Quarter Midget 160 feature saw JJ Henes and Spencer Adkins pace the field to the green flag with Adkins taking the advantage as Henes quickly dropped to the back of the field and fell into a lazy slide in turn four on lap one.  Adkins, Tristan Magel, Brendan Torok, Makayla Bowman and Henes made up the restart order.

Bowman would spin on lap four, putting Henes to fourth as he made the journey back up through the field.  On lap five, Henes would take third from Torok in turn three.  Henes would hunt down the leaders and they would all be nose to tail at the finish line, but Adkins would win over Magel, Henes, Torok and Bowman.

In Clone 360 action, point leader Kyle Watson would pace the field alongside Kegan Bartlome.  Watson would rocket to the early lead as Bartlome went on the defense.  Lilly Morris would go to second on the start and Buddy Jackson would pass Bartlome for third on lap two in turn three.  Koree Whyel would move Bartlome back to fifth on lap three as he passed the #99 for fourth in turn one.

By this point in the race, Watson had picked up a half-straightaway lead but it would soon be erased as Keith Flynn spun on the front straightaway on lap eight.  Watson would lead Morris, Jackson, Whyel, Bartlome, Tyler Flynn and Keith Flynn back to the green flag with Bartlome taking fourth from Koree Whyel on lap nine.

Morris would lose the runnerup position to Buddy Jackson with two laps to go, only to have Keith Flynn stop on the front stretch on the next lap, setting up a green-white-checkered finish.  The only change in the running order at the finish was Keith Flynn passing Tyler Flynn for sixth.  However, there would be no change up front as Kyle Watson won over Buddy Jackson, Lilly Morris, Kegan Bartlome, Koree Whyel, Keith Flynn and Tyler Flynn.

Keric Bartlome and Zack Flynn would start the Clone 305 feature from the front row.  Flynn would spin in turn four on the initial start, causing a complete restart.  When the field went to take the green again, a whole mess of cars including Brendan Goforth, Hailey Engle, Ben Morris and Carson Flynn would spin in turn two.  The next attempt at a start would again be delayed as Jeremiah Halbeisen spun on the front straightaway.

Finally, the field would straighten up and get a lap in with Bartlome taking the lead and Halbeisen and Collin Flynn taking the fourth and fifth positions.  The field would again be slowed with one lap complete as Carson Flynn spun in turn two.  Keric Bartlome led Zack Flynn, Logan Jackson, Jeremiah Halbeisen and Collin Flynn to the green flag with Sam Morris passing Collin Flynn for fifth on lap three.  Yet another caution would fly on lap four for the #33 of Zack Flynn as he spun.

Bartlome, Jackson, Halbeisen, Collin Flynn and Ben Morris made up the top five for the restart.  Flynn would pass Halbeisen for third in turn one with Brendan Goforth cracking the top five from the last starting position on lap four.  Halbeisen and Goforth would pass Collin Flynn for third and fourth on the final lap in turn two.  Flynn would sneak back by Goforth for fourth in the final set of turns.  However, it would be Keric Bartlome with the win over Logan Jackson, Jeremiah Halbeisen, Collin Flynn, Brendan Goforth, Zack Flynn, Ben Morris, Jaime Warnke, Carson Flynn, Hailey Engle and Tony Bartlome.

The karts will be off next week but they will return Friday, August 21st in grandiose style as the Quarter Midget 120 class has a $100 to win event.
